Coldspring is the county seat of San Jacinto County. It is located 70 miles north of Houston. Coldspring is located near Lake Livingston. It is a perfect place to go camping. Almost 85% of the land around Coldspring is National Forest. Coldspring is a small town with a population of 691.

In downtown Coldspring you can enjoy shopping for gifts, antiques and collectables, or dine in one of their 8 restaurants.

If you like genealogy, visit the Coldpsring Courthouse. You can find several different types of old records at the couthouse including land records, probate, and marriage records.

Coldspring is the home of the San Jacinto County Fair and Rodeo in September. It also hosts a varient of festivals and events throughout the year. Every fourth Saturday from March through November Trades Day are held at the San Jacinto County Courthouse Square.
Coldspring is rich in area history. There are over 2 dozen historical markers. Take a trip to Coldspring's old town. There you can see old buildings, and get an idea of how it was to live in early Texas. You can see Jackson's General Store which was built in 1870, Ellisors corn crib was built in 1840, Camilla's post office which was built in 1927, the Old Waverly two room schoolhouse, and an old house, and a quilt shop.
